Buka Puasa at Ba'alwie Mosque 2024

Residents joined the MOCA Harmony Circle for buka puasa at Masjid Ba'alwi, a historic mosque led by renowned interfaith leader Habib Hassan for over forty years.

Masjid Ba'alwi is a well known treasure in MoCa - Moulmein-Cairnhill. I come every year during Ramadan to break fast with the community.  

Imam Syed Hassan Mohamed Al-Attas, better known as Habib Hassan, has been looking after the mosque for over forty years. His late father, Habib Syed Muhammad Syed Salim Al-Attas, started the mosque in Lewis Road in 1952.

Habib Hassan is also a beloved interfaith leader recognised for his work building racial and religious harmony in Singapore.

Tonight I brought my MOCA Harmony Circle and Tanglin Neighbourhood Committee residents to visit and explore the mosque and its many historical artifacts. Good to also catch up with my Cikgu Yatiman Yusoff and Hawazi Daipi, who both served our nation as political office holders and MPs.
