Lee Kuan Yew was born at home on 16 September 1923, the first child to Lee Chin Koon and Chua Jim Neo, at a large two-storey house at 92 Kampong Java Road. Kampong Java road got its name from the large number of Javanese living along the road, who were known for their gardening and horse-tending skills.
