Tekka Community on Patrol
We officially launched our Tekka Community On Patrol today at Klang Lane. This is important work. Every Sunday, migrant workers come to Little India to rest after a long week of work.
Some like to rest at the HDB void decks at Klang Lane, Chander Rd and other areas. They sometimes block passageways. Some residents are kind, and understand. They'll ask if they can shift so as not to block the passageways. Others are not so kind.
We need to understand, engage and care for our migrant workers better. That's why we have a community partnership here in Klang Lane, with our partners to help find and guide our migrant worker friends to rest areas we have designated for them beyond the HDB void decks.
It's ongoing work. A big thanks to Tekka RC, MoCa Harmony Circle, Migrant Workers Centre Singapore, SINDA Youth Club, Foochow Methodist Church, Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, Singapore, Our Tanjong Pagar Town Council, Angullia Mosque, Rochor Neighbourhood Police Centre, Canadian 2 for 1 Pizza Singapore and others for partnering us.
