Yip Yew Chong's Art Exhibition at Raffles City Convention Centre
Yip Yew Chong's art is inspiring. You dwell on the intricate detail of his paintings, which draw you back in time to a familiar place in our special little island.
His 60m painting depicting 27 adjoining pieces of art about different scenes of Singapore, is nothing short of special. Three pieces of this masterpiece captivated me:
1. Kreta Ayer, where I started my volunteer journey 20 years ago. It's also where Yew Chong grew up.
2.Little India, where I now serve and am familiar with the many sights and sounds.
3.Toa Payoh Central, where I grew up playing in the park, around the fountain in front of the library, and riding the mini electric cars around the fountain, paying 50cents to the old Uncle who would set up these mini electric cars in the evenings.
Congratulations Yew Chong, for captivating scores of Singaporeans and friends of Singapore. My MoCa residents and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience today!
